Apps, Apps, and More Apps

Team B2G uses several apps to optimize training, share of information, and connect coaches and teammates, but getting it all connected can be confusing! This is your guide to the apps we use, why we use them, and how to get it all connected and working best for you!
Training Peaks

Training Peaks is the most important. TP is FREE and is how we send everyone the workouts. There is a paid premium version and if you like to poke through extra workout data to reassure yourself that you're awesome, by all means, but you really don't need it. It's a great app that facilitates the building of workouts and plans and sharing with athletes. Within TP we have many levels for both triathlon and running and can subscribe each athlete to whichever level and sport is appropriate for them, and athletes can request to switch plans at any time!
In the app settings, you'll want to go to "apps and devices" and connect it to Garmin (or whatever fitness tracker app you use) and Strava. When you connect TP with your fitness tracker app it will send your workouts to your device to make following along easier, and will also send your completed workout data back to TP so we can see how you're doing!
Garmin

Or Suunto, or Apple, or whatever fitness watch brand you use. They all have an app. And they all have the ability to connect with both Training Peaks and Strava. Is it mandatory? Well, technically, no. But without some kind of fitness tracker and accompanying connected app we have no way to see your workouts, paces, heart rate, power, etc, so there's only so much we can do to help or guide you.
Zwift

Zwift is a virtual biking and running app. There are others, like Rouvy or TrainerRoad, but we prefer Zwift. For one, it "gamifies" indoor riding make it way more fun and engaging. Additionally, if integrates with TrainingPeaks so the workouts we have programmed in TrainingPeaks, if you have the apps connected, will show up in Zwift! You can open the workout and just follow along at the targets and instructions pop up on the screen! We also use Zwift to be able to work out together as a team during the week with live group rides and workouts! Is it mandatory? Again, no. But it is a GREAT tool for bike training!
For more info on Zwift, specifically, check out our Zwift Tips article.
Zwift Companion

What? There are two Zwift apps?? Yea, there are. Let me explain. The main Zwift app (the orange one) is the "game" itself. That's the one that "pairs" to your smart trainer and takes you on a ride through France, a race in London, or workout in Central Park. The companion app, on the other hand, just helps with some of the navigation, settings, events, and chat functions. It's not required to be able to use Zwift, but it's nice to have. For B2G purposes, you can join our Zwift "club" in this app and see all of our events, chat with teammates, and navigate through workouts much more easily.
Strava

Strava is social media for athletes. It's where we share our workouts and check out what our teammates are up to. For B2G, this is especially cool, since we're all following the same training plan- thought those hill repeates were impossible? Go check out how they went for everyone else! Training is largely about accountability and motivation- and this is part of that! It's just a fun way to connect with each other. Definitely not mandatory! Just fun!

Well we all know what Facebook is. For Team B2G, at present time, Facebook is our main means of communication. We have a main page where we share news and information about the team, our private team group that can only be accessed by team members for team-specific topics, group chats, and events for coordination of group workouts and get-togethers. Is it mandatory? Technically, it isn't, but you're going to miss out on A LOT of what make Team B2G what it is- the connections with teammates and our community!
